I’ve seen sites that say that after hyperthyroid treatment, the condition becomes hypothyroidism, which causes weight gain. Has anyone been through hyperthyroidism? If so, please tell me if the medicine for it made you gain weight?

This one year old’s soft spot has not healed over and he has some dry skin problems and a small loss of weight. This is some signs of thyroid disease. Hopefully it will turn out to be just a coincidence.

Hi, I am 52 years old and for the past few months I have been suffering from excessive itching. I’m on plavix, lipitor, synthroid, an aspirin due to heart stent and hypothyroidism. My rash appears like welts and then changes to more extreme itch. It started from the lower back and has spread all over the back, chest, and legs. Some dermatologists say it is hives while others say its eczema.

When I went to the doctor recently, she told me that my blood tests showed high TSH. No other markers for thyroid disorder were high or low (i.e. my T3 and T4 were normal). My doctor thinks that I’m developing hypothyroidism. I REALLY don’t want to have to take supplemental hormones for the rest of my life, so if anyone knows a natural way to balance out my thyroid again, please let me know.

I am a 20 year old female. I eat healthy, most of the time, and I exercise regularly. I am a healthy weight (5′ 8", 130lbs). I take a multivitamin every day. I’m on birth control pills, as well.

I am going to have a thyroid ablation, ( radioactive iodine treatment) for hyperthyroidism, in just a few weeks. How should expect to feel after the give me the medication?

I’m an eleven year old girl. ( Don’t say I’m too young to be on here , because I dont care )
anyways ; my doctor probably seven weeks ago took my blood test ; and say I had hypothyroidism.. my levels were 8 point something..
So , about a week or two ago , I took it again. It got lowered to 5 point something.
The doctor wants me to take a small dose of L-thyroxine ( 0.05 mg daily )
and check back with her in april.
Is this a good pill ?
Will it to any damage to my body?

And PLEASE list some food that will help cure/lower it :) thank you.

I have recently received my blood test and it showed elevated tsh(9) and normal t3 and t4 and my prolactin levels are slightly elevated and my testesteron levels are slightly elevated too for the doctors surfing the net can you help me. I am going to repeat the tests anyway because I don’t have the specific symptoms of hypothyroidism I only have dry hair a bit of fatigue
