I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a couple years ago and was taking Synthroid up until a year ago. I didn’t have insurance, so I went unmedicated. I am now 14 weeks pregnant and my doctor checked my thyroid levels and said they were normal. I was under the impression that there was no "cure" for a thyroid problem, so how could this be possible without medication?

One of the clinical manifestation of hypothyroidism is elevated liver enzymes and anemia.
1. What is the mechanism of elevated liver enzymes in hypothyroism?
2. What is the mechanism of anemia in hypothyroism?
I have the understanding that Depakote is not only to treat depression but is said to help those with thyroid symptoms and
people who get migraines. If a person has all the symptoms of hyperthyroid and a nodule is found on their thyroid but they have been on depakote because it was thought they were manic depressive. Then when they go in for their thyroid tests their
thyroid tests come back normal. Could the depakote be interfering with their thyroid test results?
Im 5wks pregnant and I have hypothyroidism after treatment for hyperthyroidism. I am looking for support/answers from women who also have hypothyroidism. I won’t be able to see the endocrinologist for another week. Should I go ahead and take a bit of extra hormone daily until my visit? I am asking because yesterday I felt very fatigued and had muscle aches. I’m currently on 88mcg levothroid. Other than that I feel fine
I just found out I have hypothyroidism and was prescribed Levothyroxine for this, and was wondering if it will give me energy, and if I will lose weight from fixing this? Also, i have high cholestoral and was prescribed Lipitor for this,? Would any of these problems be a symptom of something else?
I just got diagnosed with hypothyroidism a few days ago. Today was my fourth day on the medication. I was just wondering how long it took for everyone else to take the weight off? I was always 100-105 lbs and now I’m 115, which is large for me, and I want to be able to wear a bikini!
Are there any herbal treatment for hypothyroidism options available? We are looking for some natural solutions / supplements for this condition and any help would be appreciated.
i’m only eighteen and no i’m not trying to get pregnant right now but i do want kids in the far away future and i have hypothyroidism. a nurse told me the other day that it can decrease the chances becoming pregnant. is this true?
i really don’t need people telling me i’m too young to have kids or other rude stuff because as i’ve already said i want kids IN THE FUTURE.
thanks in advance.
I had a blood test done last week and it came back abnormal for the thyroid. The doctor put me on a medicine called Synthroid for it. If someone can tell me in simple terms, I would appreciate it!
My tests showed the following - TSH level - 5.551 and my PTH, intact was 74.1, which seems to be extremely high.
I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism or has had it for a while. I have many symptoms of it, including not being able to lose weight. I had a blood test for it about 5 years ago and nothing showed up but I am convinced that I do have it and it’s bothering me. I have people who don’t believe me because they don’t think I am trying hard enough to lose weight, but I do and it doesn’t work. I also have people who know me very well and can’t believe that I am the size I am because I don’t eat enough to by my size. So if anyone has any information or stories I would appreciate it. Also is there anyone who has started treatment for hypothyroidism and lost a lot of weight because of it? Please help.
I got thyroid cancer 4 years ago, went through the whole sugery removal, radiation, the works. Now I"m fine. My TSH level is fine. I take hormone replacments pills everyday. Anyone who is hypothyroidism knows losing weight feels like trying to get into the olympics. Now, everytime I go to my doctor to ask what I can do to lose weight, he give me BS answers…..join and gym, eat less, eat healthier. Done all the that. Within those 4 years, I still work out on a regular basis, been eating super healthy, still do. I don’t lose a pound. I"m not overweight, but I would like to shed some pounds. It’s embrassing to be working out so much, and not have anything to show for it. So if theirs any sugestion or similar stories, please share.
Also, I can’t eat breakfast, which is the most important meal. Because My medication requires to be taken on an empty stomach. So I must take it first thing in the morning. And I have to wait an hour to eat, we can’t eat in school. I have the thyroid diet book, didn’t help too much. and when I say I eat healthy, i’m not just talking about just no sweets. it’s not meat other than fish, no chips, no soda. it’s as healthy as it can get. i herad about putting more fiber into your diet helps? I live on broccoli… literally. it’s my favorite food so that doesn’t work. cutting calories doesn’t work. working out everyday isn’t going well…low carb doesn’t work…
also my goal isn’t crazy… if i eve see myself drop 5-10 pounds i’ll jump for joy. it doesn’t have to even be a ..lose X amt of pounds in 2 seconds… I have all the time in the world.. I just really need some advice
Just wondering. I just wanted to know what would happen if you were given too much medicine to cure your hypo and if it could lead to hyper. Has anybody experienced it? And if so, and if it does turn into hyper, would your medication just need to be cut back? Thanks!
