Can you give me some alternative treatments/things to do or look into for both Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom and Hypothyroidsm? Actually it seems that my thyroid is almost back to normal due to taking the western drug Synthroid, but I would still like to know of alternative treatments (other than the pig thyroid, already know about that…not interested in that).
So yeah, I welcome any info you might have on alternative help for PCOS and hypothyroidism (i’m mostly interested in PCOS). Also, any info on alternative treatments for depression is welcome.
Thanks!
Oh and I’m a vegetarian (who eats seafood) if that makes any difference at all.
I have all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism..I am just not overweight. I was chubby up until the time I was 17 when I started a strict workout and diet schedule. I still gain weight relatively easily but I am much better at managing it now. Is it possible that I do have a thyroid problem and it just isn’t extreme? All advice is appreciated!
I went to the Dr. yesterday and I have a huge Pituitary tumor. He said that we had to do some lab work to make sure my Thyroid level was normal, That if it wasn’t I would need to take medication to get it where it needs to be befor surgery. I guess it is not good to have surgery if the Thyroid is low or high.
Hello and thanks for reading (hopefully answering?)
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism around the age of 14- along with insulin resistence. I was overweight and lost about 50 lbs in the following two/three years. After this, my conditions ‘disappeared’. My doctor took me off the medications and said it was likely the weight that caused them, and now with it gone my body corrected itself naturally. I am now almost 21- because these conditions are no longer present, is it possible for me to enter the military? Or does simply having them at one point, disqualify me for the rest of my life?
Thanks again!
I’ve recently been diagnosed with minor hypothyroidism, but I’m pretty sure I have depression too. Could my hypothyroidism be causing my depression [I'm pretty sure I've had both for years now, just wasn't sure what was happening with me]. Or is depression separately caused and simply a symptom of hypothyroidism?
Are there any natural remedies or herbs for hypothyroidism out there? Or is the only solution to be on synthetic drugs the rest of your life?
I have a friend who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism very shortly after the birth of her first child. She was unable to produce sufficient breast milk; from what I understand her hypothyroidism may have contributed to her low milk supply. Could the pregnancy have "caused" the hypothyroidism, from the hormone change, or is it more likely that it existed before, and she went undiagnosed?
Recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and wondering how much it costs to treat before insurance?
thanks!
I went to my dermatologist because I had these sores on my scalp. They feel very hot and itch. It almost feels like I’m being burned by a cigarette. The doctor has tried every shampoo and prescription salves and topical sprays and it’s been 1 1/2 years and they’re still there. The thing is my gland is swollen all the way to my right ear for as long as I have had them and the sores have spread to my inside ear lobe. I have scratched them at times and they bleed and scabs come and it’s just a vicious cycle. I have fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism and have had spinal surgery to have my L5 disc removed from my lower back after it ruptured and crimped off nerves connected to my rt. leg. I’m taking the fentanyl patch and topamax and provigil to help with all the pain because the nerve damage is permanent. I’ve had extensive therapy and have deteriorating osteo arthritis of my whole spine. My neck hurts all the time and I wake up with numb hands and fingers. If anyone can help I’d be grateful.
Have been prescribed Co-dydramol but have an underactive thyroid. It says in the leaflet to reduce the dosage if one has hypothyroidism. Would be very interested as to the effects, to decide whether to take the pills or not.
I have lost most of my thyroid and was placed on Synthroid. My tests show my drug levels are all right but I still feel far from good.

I have Hypothyroidism and sleeping problems, I was wondering if they might be connected.
I think I might have had what ‘nursekuba’ described before, but as far as sleeping problems I mean trouble falling asleep. I have no trouble staying asleep once I am asleep, but I just can’t seem to turn my brain off and fall asleep.
