My son has been diagnosed with HSP and, as a result, kidney disease. It is believed that some autoimmune disorder is the cause. He takes prednisone and still suffers illness from coughing and sinus congestion. I have hypothyroidism and was wondering if this might be the cause for his problems as well. His thyroid tests came back on the low side of normal range which mine did as well. They treated me anyway. Please help.
Please note that I do not feel that my hypothyroidism is like a virus attacking his body. I want to know if he might have hypothyroidism. I know that my condition is not contagious.

I have been diagnosed with graves disease related to my thyroid. My endocrynologist wants me to take a radioactive pill and body scan to destroy my thyroid next week. He will then have me on thyroid medicine the rest of my life with periodic blood tests. Has anyone out there experienced this procedure? If so, please discuss it with me.

My husband just found out today that he has an underactive thyroid. All of the information we can find is about middle aged women, but he is a 24 year old man. Has anyone had experience with this? How did the treatment work for you?

I am 18 and just got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I know it’s not a HUGE deal, but I am on Synthroid for it and on 40 mg of Adderall for ADD… but my adderall doesn’t work anymore since I’ve had hypothyroidism! I used to just take 20mg and I would work like crazy and I couldn’t go to sleep for days on it, but I tried taking 60mg and I was still tired, sluggish, and unfocused! Does anyone know why? Or if it is safe to even mix these drugs?! I am also on Zoloft for anxiety. Please help!
My doctor KNOWS all the meds I am on. Im not retarded. Im just asking if anyone else has had this happen with Adderall.

My father has hypothyroidism which he takes medication for, and it is an inheritable disease. I’m just wondering if this is the answer to some of my problems the last few years. Maybe the test was a false negative? I’m in my mid twenty’s now.

I recently lost my insurance and I have been taking Levo-thyroxine for my hypothyroidism but am unable to get it refilled this next month does anyone have this and use al alternative drug? Preferably something OTC? or a cheaper treatment through a pharmacy? any suggestions?

I just got diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and I am looking for a good diet for the thyroid. So if anyone could give me any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

I’ve been taking armour thyroid for 3 months. I started at 30mg, then 60, and now 90mg and have had no change. I have had severe, constant fatigue, joint pain, and heart palpitations for the past 10 months. None of the doctors I’ve been to know whats going on. All the test I’ve done have come back inconclusive. The only reason I’m take Armour is because my sister (and deceased grandmother) has hypothyroidism. Does anybody have a clue or a suggestion or something. I’m running out of hope.

3 years ago, at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. It totally came out of nowhere. I had also gained about 30 pounds and I’m wondering if there’s a connection. Plus, I’m a male, and Hashimoto’s is most common in women. I’m trying to get off of all prescription drugs, but my Endocrinologist has told me that I will need to be on my Synthroid medication for the rest of my life. I haven’t lost the weight either.

My little sister had thyroid cancer and had her thyroid removed, and a female cousin and an Aunt of mine also have Hashimoto’s so it runs in my family. But the WOMEN in my family. So why me?

I just don’t want to have to wake up and take a pill for the rest of my life.

How long after treatment do you think a person would feel in good health again?
I’m on meds, now, after 10 yrs. of not knowing.

I am going to be changing medical insurance soon. Am at UC Davis now. They only look at the numbers and ignore the symptoms. How does Kaiser treat hypothyroidism?

I am thinking the olnly way to have my hypothyroidism treated properly is to find a homeopathic doctor.
Calling them is a good idea and I did that. But I would like tohear from patients who have dealt with the issue and wheather they happy with their treatment.

I was told to stop taking Fenugreek to increase my milk supply due to my child having hypothyroidism. Are there any other supplements that work as well that are safe for her?

My sister was diagnosed 2 years back and took Rx that were prescribed to her. Last year she went back to China and was given a dose of something strong. She was then asked to take a supplement for a whole month. Afterwards they said she doesn’t have to rely on any pills for it again.

The treatment is popular in China, as many Chinese- especially the women- are known to have had or to have hypothyroidism. And my sister is a firm believer. She had not taken any more Rx for it and claims to be okay.

I had asked her if she had gone to the doctor here to inform him of her changes in following his treatment plan, and she said yes.
I just hope she will stay healthy.

What do you think? And have you heard of success stories alike?
