My 6-year-old Cocker Spaniel has a T4 thyroid level of 0.6 so he’s been put on 0.5 thyroxine daily. How long until I see a noticeable improvement in his skin, ears and behaviour (slight aggressive tendency)? Is this an ‘overnight fix’ like human hormones can be, or will it take a while to build up in his system?

. Jane lives in Appalachia and suffers from hypothyroidism. Her thyroid gland is enlarged, her body temperature is low, and her hair and skin look brittle and dry. Blood tests show very low levels of circulating iodine, T3, and T4, but high levels of TSH. What is your diagnosis? Why did this occur? What treatment would you recommend?

I am a 21 year old who has been taking thyroid pills for about 3 1/2 years now (I have hypothyroidism). I haven’t grown taller since I started taking the pills. I’m still 4′11".

I heard recently that taking growth hormones would help people who have an under active thyroid to increase their height. At 21, do you think it would have any effect on me if I took those growth hormones - or do you think it’s too late for me?

Thanks!

Thyroxine, the medication, is a case of the cure being worse than the disease. It makes me feel horrible, and the doctor just tells me ‘to continue taking the medication’.

I’m only 22 years old and was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and have had the symptoms for a few years now (late teens/early twenties). Will I have to be on Armour Thyroid my whole life and is it bad if I start taking it this young? I have tried alternative medicine first and it did nothing.

If I go to the doctor and get a blood test for hypothyroidism, will my doctor be able to see if I have diabetes in the same blood test?
If I wanted them to test for hypothyroidism, could they legally take part of my blood sample and test it for diabetes?

My daughter’s tyroid seem enlarged and I was curious if she may have an underactive thyroid. She had gained weight in the last year.
And what causes thyroid problems

I have a friend who had hyperthyrodism for about 15 years .The doctors in a Beijing hospital used I131( 131 iodin)to cure her disease on Jan 2006. Here are the test results after she was cured .
2006 April T3 1.5pmoi/i (standard 3.09-9.83) ; T4 3.81pmoi/i (8.07-26.27) ; TSH 4.8 (0-7.9)
2006 July T3 2.5 pmoi/i (2.5-9.8) T4 8.0 pmoi/i (10-25) TSH 40 ( standard less than 10)
2006 Oct T3 3.5pmoi/i (2.5-9.8) T4 8.0 pmoi/i (10-25)
TSH 50 ( less than 10)
2007 Jan T3 1.37 pg/mL ( standard 2.3-4.2) ; T4 0.43 ng/dL (0.89-1.76) ; TSH 61.06uIU/mL (0.35-5.5)
In April 2006 , she cramped slightly .She was also afraid of cold and liked to sleep . But from May on , she felt good .Although her test results isn’t good now, but she feels good no bad symptom . Is she sure a hypothyroidism patient now ?Can she has children ?
she wants a kid , she is 29 years old , does her disease affect her baby’s health ?

I have Hashimoto’s disease and was told today by my endocrinologist that my body will ultimately "kill" my thyroid. Until it does, I have no treatment options! I have so many symptoms associated with hypothyroidism and am desperate for some type of relief! I have gained 30 + lbs, am constantly tired and don’t menstruate regularly (I am a newlywed and would like to have children within the next couple of years), etc. I was told the "death" of my thyroid could take years and the thought of continuing in my current state for what would feel like an eternity is devastating, please help!

I was just wondering if anybody experienced anxiety attacks while under hypothyroidism and if it was normal to have. I have been on the medicine for about 4 years and just now started experiencing them. Should I stop taking my medication and see a doctor or is it normal to have? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 12. I took synthroid up until I was 20. A few months after the medicine was out of my system I had my doctor test my throid level and it cam beack normal. Does this happen often?

I feel as if I have many of the symptoms associated with hypothyroidism. I’ve been researching and learning about it. If I have my doctor test me and tell me for sure, what would happen? Is there medication, would I have it removed? How can it be treated naturally?
