I take thyroid medicine and it seems that when I started taking thyroid medicine years ago I started putting on weight. Now I am quite a bit overweight. Nothing seems to help. My thyroid has never been regulated right. Doctors just don’t seem to pay much attention when I bring this up.

There’s a chance the radiation treatment will reverse it to hypothyroid and I’d have to take hormones the rest of my life.

Hello, I have not had mine checked yet, but one of my doctors (for anxiety) told me to because I have anxiety and night sweats. I am in the process of finding a doctor to do blood work for me to get it checked. In the meantime though, can you tell me what other signs or symptoms are associated with thyroid?

Thanks

P.S.. I am 27 year old female, if that makes a difference.

Hello everyone,

Presently I have hypothyroid, and just 2-3 months back, i came to know about it.

and then on I have started takin eltroxin and few days back i have also started the ayurvedic treatment, with which I am not very satisfied.

While surfing at net about thyroid, i came to know about armour medicine with lots of positive reviews. Can anybody tell me the cost of this medicine according to Indian price and where can i find it in Delhi specially near Patel Nagar.

Waiting for your replies.

thnx.

I have hypothyroidism and have fairly high hormone levels, which my naturopath has told me will make it difficult, if not impossible to conceive. Has anyone here conceived with hypothyroidism?
I should add: I am not on thyroid medication, other than natural treatments.

**Naturopathic medicine (also known as naturopathy, or natural medicine) is a complementary and alternative medicine which emphasizes the body’s intrinsic ability to heal and maintain itself. Naturopaths prefer to use natural remedies such as herbs and foods rather than surgery or synthetic drugs.

My test showed hypothyroidism 6,5 (natural is 1-2,5).
But I had never problem of loosing weight when Im on a diet .
I have read about hyp-sm syptoms and I hadn’t nor have one of them. My health is excellent. My doctor perscribed medicine but I’m against them. Does anyone has been cured from hyp-sm, using natural remedies ?

I’d like to get checked out for both, but anticipate changing insurance carriers in the near future and want to know in case they play the "pre-existing condition" card. Are the medications used to treat these conditions expensive? Can anyone get prescriptions cheap, such as the deal at Wal Mart? What other expenses could be involved besides medication, and about how much would they be? Thanks.

I have gone almost 2 months without having my period before. I haven’t had my period since I got it on the 26th of May. I have taken pregnancy tests and they both said negative. My husband and myself have been trying to get pregnant for months now and do not want to dissapointed again. Urine tests , blood tests for pregnancy never work for me. They always come back negative , unless I am atleast 3 months pregnant. Then they say positive. Thanks

I have Hypothyroidism, I am sopposed to be taking synthroid everyday, but the last year I haven’t been able to cause of no insurance and no doctor and just haven’t had the money. Now i am getting insurance again, can i stary taking it again, will it make me tired and sleepy and wore out again?

I recently had an endocrinologist refuse to treat me because I smoke cigarettes. I have hyperthyroidism and am suffering from severe thyroid storms. My body, especially my heart, are suffering from these storms. Can he legally refuse to treat me? On a side note, I also heard from a nurse at another doctor’s office that he refuses to treat anyone who is obese, which probably poses a problem for his hypothyroid patient.

Or does it have to get treatment first?
Just want to know
Thanks

I have been on Mitotropin for 30 days and I am afraid that my thyroid levels have decreased post-mito since mito increases the amount of T3 cells in the body. I am 18. I do not know for sure if Mitotropin has done this, but I am always fearing the worst. How can I return thyroid levels to homeostasis if they have been effected?

I have been having a month and a half battle with problems…but today the doctor finally thinks they have found the problem…at first the doctor though I was having anxiety…but I went to another doctor that sent me for blood work and a EKG…the results came back and I had an abnormally slow heart rate (that freaked me out because those results came in before the blood work)…but that was explained because the blood work came back as hypothyroid….so I went for another test and they came back normal! The one doctor thought it was just sub-clinical hypothyroid…but I went to another doctor that is betting its viral thyroiditis and its causing the levels to fluctuate. So my question is…when this final blood test comes back and it shoes I have thyroiditis is there any treatment? Or what is to be done?

for around a year whenever my husband has a blood test to check his high cholesterol the dr always says his thyroid is high or low, [not sure which one]
hes never put him on medication cos he asks him if hes tired, muscle aches or a sore neck- cos hes always feeling fine the dr says he dosent need medication for it cos its only out by a bit
but for the last few weeks ive noticed my hubby is more tired and sore, and he says the side of his neck has sharp buring feelings , that are there a couple times a day

could this burning pain in the side of the neck be his thyroid, ?
thanks

I found out I have hypothyroidism on July 14th. I think it started during my pregnancy (I had excessive swelling without preclampsia, was exhausted the whole time, and gained 20 lbs in ONE month).

Would/could anything happen to my son if it did happen during my pregnancy and was untreated until now? He’s almost 6 months old.
Developmental as in rolling and sitting?

I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I have been gaining lots of weight lately and that’s why they tested me.

If you have taken levothyroxine for hypothyroidism, have you lost any weight?

I live in the UK, where Gps refuse to treat hypothyroid with TSH levels lower than 10. When tested, my TSH levels were 5.05 (mid January) and 4.95 (mid February). They would have considered treating had my second tested TSH stayed above 5.

I’ve had every symptom going for hypothyroid for the last 3 years: cold all the time, inactive, low bbt (generally below 36C for around 18 months, with post-ovulatory "highs" of up 36.3C, when I’d feel almost normal again).

Since learning that my thyroid was a little underactive a few months ago, I’ve been taking vitamins and supplements (multi Bs, fish oils, cranberry extract, and Siberian Ginseng), and feel A LOT better- pre ovulation temperature has risen to 36.3-36.5.

But. Still no baby, despite trying for 4 years.

Has anybody else been in this situation, and how did you resolve it? Also, what is your experience treatment in your various places (how wonderful it is to be able to ask people all over the world a question!)
And has anyone else out been told their TSH level should be below 2 during their pregnancy? My endocrinologist told me ideally it should be between 1 and 2 to prevent potential neurological delay, and then recommended not treating. Did any of you ladies with treated hypothyroidism have to get your TSH levels below 2 before falling pregnant? And was your doctor really alert to your TSH, T3 and T4 levels during pregnancy?

is there a natural cure for hypothyroidism that really works??

i want to solve this once and for all. i hear rumors that if you for instance, dont take the full course of a prescribed pill for a day or two and forget, is it like not taking it all? i’m hypothyroid and once in a while i will forget to take my medication or i run out of them. i have to take one every day of my life forever….What negative effects can this have? is it like not taking it at all? Any suggestions for helping me remember?

My friend is suspecting a thyroid disorder due to her eyebrows falling out and her flaky skin on the face. But NO ONE in her family has it. What could cause her to be like this? Is it even possible?

thank you.

Is congenital hypothyroidism a TYPE of cretinism? Or vice-versa?

I’m doing a research project and I’d appreciate anyone who can help! Thank you in advance!
